Summer is officially here! It's been a late start to spring and the worst year for mosquitoes. However, the dogs are enjoying their days bellies up in the sunshine! I didn't get to do anymore shows since Chaleur Canine Club shows. I had entered a show this weekend, however, I never got to go, due to a recent small surgery on my feet that left me rather immobile.. However, I should be back to normal in another week! The new kennels are almost done. It was time to change our setup and with a few finishing touches, the dogs will be moving into their new runs.

We drove down to the USA last weekend to pick up a new addition! Not quite the same 'look' as we are used to in the Malamutes... I started a partnership with my mom as we venture into the Chinese Crested breed. Here is a photo of our newest addition. Her name is Nikki. The Mals don't quite know what to think of her. Although, they've accepted her as a new member of the family :)

Chaleur Canine Club - Pearl is a new CHAMPION!! Not only did Pearl,  Ch. Akamute Perle De L'Océan WTD WSD, finish her championship in very few shows, she also won a group 2nd on her first time out as a special!! Lots of wonderful comments from the judges and exhibitors!! This also gives her dam 'Xera' her last points needed to be eligible for her Canadian Award of Merit for Conformation (CAM) !!! Whoo hooo!! (photo courtesy of Walter Norris)

Spring is finally here! The dogs are enjoying every bit of it, bellies up sun tanning :) There are running in harness several times a week. Most have lost their coats, therefore, lots of bathing and brushing going on this time of year. I have posted quite a few new videos over the last month that I haven't had the chance to post on the website. I've added a few pictures. It was so nice today, perfect spring day! Here are the dogs this afternoon during and after their harness runs! A few even got the spa treatment after.. a bath! Not sure they would call it that!!

Got a nice surprise in the mail.. Having only been out TWO weekends in 2007, which included a Best in Show and many group placements, Koal Ch. Akamute's Black Diamond Target CGN CD PCD WTD WPD is the # 5 Malamute (CKC all breed points) in Canada for 2007!!

A new album has been added to the past litters page. This album will be updated regularly with pictures of bred by companions from our kennel.

Pearl and Zouk just finished 12 weeks  of obedience classes. I'm proud to say both are doing very well and we hope to get them in the obedience ring later this year. To top it off, during our final evaluations, Pearl scored 'High In Class' over a large entry of dogs from combined classes!! We are looking forward to Pearl and Zouk's performance in obedience ring!

We had fun last weekend at the West. Springfield, MA, USA shows. At the Ct. Working Specialty, Koal took Reserve Winners to a 4pt major on Saturday.. it was nice to see no snow and warmer temps.. Back to reality.. snow, freezing rain and cold temperatures! :)
